Registration for the fifth season of the Russian Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence has opened. This year, the competition has gained international status. The event is open to students in the 8–11 grades both in Russia and abroad. The winners will receive benefits when applying to Russian universities.

HSE University actively participates in the Russian Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence. Representatives of the university are members of the organising committee, the methodological committee, and the jury, ensuring a high-quality contest and an interesting programme. HSE University also supports the competition winners, highlighting the importance of helping young talents to develop in the field of artificial intelligence.

The competition will be held in three rounds: the qualifying round from September 29–October 4, the main round from October 16–19, and the final round from November 17–21.

The tasks of the olympiad are based on datasets provided by IT companies partnered with the competition: VK, T-Bank, Avito, and RWB.

Dmitry Kulikov

‘This year's olympiad is international in nature, and we are seeing interest in the project from schoolchildren from other countries. The tasks in the training round, which has already started, are being solved by students from Belarus, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkey, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan,’ said Dmitry Kulikov, Vice Rector for Science at the State University of Education.

Danil Fedorovykh

‘HSE University has been involved in organising the olympiad (most actively in the preparation of tasks) since its launch. This project fits well into the concept of intellectual competitions that we develop—new, unusual olympiad formats in modern fields of knowledge. I wish success to all the participants. Many winners from previous years have enrolled in HSE University programmes, and we will welcome the winners of this fifth season as well,’ added Danil Fedorovykh, member of the olympiad jury and HSE University Deputy Vice Rector.

This season, teachers can also register to invite their students to participate in the olympiad and receive certificates attesting to the success of the participating students. The certificates allow teachers to demonstrate their contribution to the development of schoolchildren's digital competencies and may be beneficial in their professional activities.

Participants who reach the finals will have the opportunity to visit leading technology companies, meet with IT specialists, and attend master classes from data scientists, AI technology developers, and the heads of AI departments at major IT companies. The winners of the olympiad will receive additional points upon admission to the university. You can register for participation until October 4 on the official website of the olympiad.
