Education news at HSE University

International students at HSE University acted in and shot a film-play in Russian as part of the ‘Russian through Drama’ course. The students spent a semester preparing the play, immersing themselves in the Russian language and cultural environment. The HSE News Service spoke with the instructors and students about their work on the play and their Russian studies.

During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov signed cooperation agreements with regional heads, university rectors, heads of companies, government agencies, public organisations, and cultural institutions. This cooperation with new partners will cover a wide range of areas—from educational and research projects to student expeditions and youth policy.

The admissions campaign for the ‘Applied Social Psychology’ English-language programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences has started. From September 2022, this master’s programme, whose structure and curriculum align with those of social psychology programmes at European universities, will be delivered online.

Over the last two decades, HSE University has consistently worked to strengthen the digital component of its courses. In addition to training IT sector professionals, HSE helps students in other faculties and departments build digital competences. HSE Vice Rector Sergey Roschin explains how the university has earned its reputation as a ‘higher school of digital economics’ and what this means for students and graduates.

In the run-up to the new admissions campaign, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov met with journalists from leading media outlets to brief them on the upcoming campaign, focusing in particular on the types of support available to applicants and students and on international admissions.

Six HSE MIEM educational programmes have been accredited by the Association for Engineering Education of Russia (AEER). The accredited programmes have been awarded the EUR-ACE® label and the Washington Accord certificate.

Russian society demonstrates a growing interest in Asia and North Africa, with economic, social, political and cultural expectations associated with the macro-region. What is more, demand for educational programmes and competencies related to Asian and African studies is projected to grow in Russian universities. HSE Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin and the heads of relevant HSE departments explain the university’s past and current efforts to respond to these challenges.

HSE University and other leading Russian universities have signed a memorandum with VK and Skillbox to develop online learning and remote-education technologies in Russia. The signing took place at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
