of Russians who hold Doctorate of Sciences and Candidate of Sciences degrees are involved in various forms of international cooperation.
Scientific conferences, seminars, and forums are the most common form of international communication; about 70% of those surveyed take part in them. In second place was work on joint publications with foreign colleagues (31%). Involvement in joint research projects took third place (27%).
These data were obtained during a nationwide survey of researchers holding doctoral and candidate degrees as part of a Monitoring of the Labour Market for Highly Qualified R&D Personnel study. The survey was conducted in September-November 2014 using representative sampling. In total, 2,852 individuals were surveyed.
