Through Heat and Sand: Egyptology Students’ Fieldwork in Egyptian Museums and Necropolises

Students of the Bachelor’s in Egyptology at the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies, HSE Faculty of Humanities, spent ten days in the extreme conditions of the Egyptian heat exploring ancient tombs, creating 3D models of reliefs, and mastering Egyptology not from textbooks but through direct engagement with monuments. As they stepped out from cool burial chambers into the blazing sun, they joked that ‘It’s better to be a dead Egyptian than a living one.’

Faculty of Economic Sciences Publishes Survey of Graduates

The results of a survey conducted by the staff of the International Office among graduates of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at HSE University in May–June 2025 revealed some interesting patterns regarding the educational trajectories of FES students. A total of 90 bachelor's graduates and 103 master's graduates from FES participated in the survey, accounting for 18.9% of all respondents.

HSE University Students and Postgraduates Take Part in Peking University International Summer School

In July 2025, Peking University hosted its annual Quantum Molecular Dynamics Summer School, which has moved onto an international stage. Its first foreign guests were students and postgraduates from the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM). They took part in an extensive academic programme and had the opportunity to visit a laboratory that works with optoelectronic materials and energy devices.

‘Student Ideas Shed Light on Key Challenges for Urban Development’

The first international joint summer school of the Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism (GSU) at both the HSE Faculty of Urban and Regional Development and Brest State Pushkin University (BrSU), hosted by BrSU, has come to a close. The programme focused on studying buffer zones along the railway lines encircling the city centre. Participants included students from the GSU’s Urban Planning degree programme, as well as students from BrSU and Brest State Technical University.

'We Are Interested in Creating Opportunities for Those Who Are Genuinely Passionate about the Russian Language and Culture'

This year marks the 10th anniversary of HSE University's International Prep Year Programme. Over the past 10 years, approximately 2,000 international students have taken courses offered through the programme. At the core of their educational experience is the study of the Russian language, combined with subjects related to their future specialties, such as mathematics, computer science, literature, and history. In addition, students take part in interactive events organised by the programme. Vice Rector Victoria Panova discusses the origins and development of the HSE International Prep Year, as well as its main purpose.

Economics Without Borders: ICEF HSE First International Summer School Brings Partner Universities to Moscow

From July 6 to 16, 2025, ICEF HSE hosted its inaugural International Summer School in Economics and Finance for students from partner universities. Thirty undergraduate students from China, Vietnam, Turkey, and the UAE joined their peers at ICEF for a programme that combined rigorous academic sessions with cultural immersion. The academic component was delivered by ICEF and HSE faculty, along with industry experts in economics and financial markets.

Lyceum Student Wins Bronze at International Cybersecurity Olympiad

In June 2025, the finals of the International Cybersecurity Olympiad (ICO) took place in Singapore. The Russian national team competed alongside 128 talented school students from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sweden, and others. The Russian team secured silver and took second place in the overall team ranking. This result was made possible thanks to the individual achievements of the team members, including Mikhail Selin, an 11th-grade student at the HSE Lyceum, who won a bronze medal.
